With offices on Hilton Head Island, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach, PC&L Agency stays ahead of the curve when it comes to wind coverage. We write coverage in areas where many traditional carriers are now excluding wind coverage, raising rates, or non-renewing policies altogether.

Understanding Your Wind Deductible

Wind & Hail

Damage from any wind event or hail event will trigger this deductible.

Named Storm

Damage from a storm given a "name" by the National Weather Service (e.g., Tropical Storm or Hurricane "Andrew") will trigger this deductible.

Hurricane

Damage specifically from a storm categorized as a "Hurricane" by the National Weather Service will trigger this deductible.

If a house insured for $300,000 has a 3% wind deductible, the homeowner's out-of-pocket deductible would be $9,000 in the event of a covered wind loss.

Why Not the SC Wind & Hail Pool?

The SC Wind and Hail Association pool was designed as a compromise between South Carolina and carriers like State Farm, Nationwide, and Allstate who no longer wish to write wind coverage along the coast. The pool has three separate deductibles, does not offer replacement cost on contents, and often provides inferior coverage at a higher price.

PC&L Agency has agreements with multiple carriers that wish to expand their footprint along the SC Coast — even in Wind and Hail Association zones. We offer flat wind deductibles or lower percentage deductibles than the pool, with a true single deductible instead of three parts.
